Tidying clutter can increase saleability

Tidying your home can make your property more saleable, according to new research by the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA).

While not increasing the value of a property, small improvements like tidying-up inside and cleaning the outside of a home can make it more desirable to buyers, the NAEA states.

According to a poll carried out by the association, 45 per cent of estate agents said that tidying up clutter is extremely important.

Redecorating was also approved of by 22 per cent of agents and many said a well presented garden would make a difference.

Peter Bolton King, chief executive of the NAEA, said: "It is the little things that can make a difference when wanting to make your home easier to sell."

"Concentrate on the presentation of the home - clear the mess away and have a dust and vacuum of the place," he added.

Meanwhile, Nationwide''s latest house price index has shown property prices have dropped by more than £20,000 in the last year, the Daily Express reports.
