A pair of Southport estate agents that set up a property swap scheme earlier this week have been inundated with offers, it has been reported.

Lynn Thompson and Chris Tinsley have taken on extra staff to cope with the number of homeowners interested in exchanging their property.

The duo will host a Property Swap Day this Saturday, where homeowners who are struggling to sell their properties in the current economic downturn can exchange keys with someone looking to move house.

Mr Tinsley said: "We''ve had a great response, swapping seems to have really caught the imagination of the Southport public."

"People are thinking about property again, which is great," he added.

The scheme works by allowing people to swap properties of equal value or trade up or down by paying the difference.

Earlier this month, the National Association of Estate Agents polled its members and found that small cosmetic touches, like tidying up, can make a property more saleable.
