Gardens important for first impression of a property

A garden is extremely important for home sellers who want to create a good first impression of their property.
That is according to Gardeners'' World magazine, which has suggested that an attractive green space in front of a house can make it much more appealing to prospective buyers.
Lucy Hall noted that while parking space is also something that many buyers look for in a new home, they are also drawn to things which give a home a serene quality, particularly if it is located in a city.
She explained:"Gardens are incredibly valuable for creating the right impression to viewers, from the minute they walk through the gate. While off-road parking is hugely desirable, a front garden thats predominately green immediately creates a sense of calm, even in the midst of the city - so avoid too much tarmac if you want to set the right tone."
Ms Hall went on to say that back gardens can also help to sell a house, especially if there is an opportunity to use part of it as storage space.
"In the back garden, a generous paved or decked area for outdoor dining is a must these days, as were all increasingly moving our living space outside, while a simple timber shed for storing all your garden kit keeps down the clutter and definitely adds value," she added.
Recently, the Guardian reported that Brits annually spend £4 billion on garden tools, accessories, plants and flowers.
